Catching Up

Okay, okay, I realize that it's been much too long since my last post - but man, have I been busy! Here's a rundown:

After my last post, my grandson (AKA Buddy) did receive his promotion to Cho Dan (see photo at right). The actual promotion took place at the end of an exciting round of demonstrations by the Demo Teams and staff members of both participating schools - some very nice precision work by the groups, and some very impressive breaks by senior staff members! The ceremony was followed by a party at the home of one of the other students in our school - my grandson didn't want it to end!

Coincidentally, my son and daughter-in-law's first baby was due any time. In fact, the day Black Belt before testing started, Little Mama went to the hospital for induced labor. (Buddy's mother and I had decided that I would stay home to support Buddy and she would go north to help out at my son's house, so she missed all the Black Belt excitement.) But no baby was forthcoming, so after three days of ineffective labor, Little Mama was sent home to wait. Finally, on Monday the 27th of April, little Jack was born by Cesarean section. Everybody is doing just fine, thank you very much!

Unfortunately that same day Buddy came down with a nasty virus that sent his temperature skyrocketing, provoking a trip to the emergency room. We were reassured that he did not have any kind of flu, but he was pretty sick for the rest of the week and required careful monitoring and medication to keep the fever down.

And of course once he started to get better, I got sick. Luckily I didn't have the high fever, but I felt pretty low until this afternoon.

So I hope you'll all forgive me for neglecting my blogging responsibilities. I promise to post more pictures of the baby, and maybe some more of Buddy in his new uniform.
